Ron
Rizzi's work - his rich, cinematic painting style - addresses
complex issues of loss, childhood, suffering, and the impact
of media on our understanding of others and ourselves. Writing
about his most recent show at NAGA Cate McQuaid called him "an
eloquent narrative painter" and said, "Rizzi turns
the spotlight on the small accumulating losses that inure us
to the pain of being human."
In 1997, Rizzi's paintings were featured in a solo exhibition, "Burnt Snow," at
the Gallery of Contemporary Art of the Museum of Costa Rican Art in San Jose,
Costa Rica. His work is included in the collections of the Museum of Fine Arts,
Boston and the Rose Art Museum at Brandeis University in Waltham, among others.
