Cheryl Warrick has developed her painting career in Boston and has attracted national attention with gallery exhibitions throughout the country. Her Wisdom Series, begun in the mid-1990s and still an ongoing project, seeks to explore the nature of our knowledge by examining elements of visual and verbal languages. In her acrylic and mixed media works, she suspends in painterly space paintings-within-a-painting, each drawing
upon one of the visual traditions in which she participates
- Western landscape painting, African pattern making, and American
quiltmaking.
Her paintings are included in numerous public collections,
among them the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and the Rhode
Island School of Design. In October, 2001
Hard Press published The Wisdom Series: Cheryl Warrick, a 48-page
monograph with an essay by John Yau.
