Stephen
Whittlesey's furniture, made of found wood from his home base
of Cape Cod, has received national attention since the early
1980s. His furniture is particularly interesting in the context
of the studio furniture movement's prizing of fine joinery
and flawlessly finished materials. Whittlesey's work, entirely
crafted of salvaged materials, revels in the patinas and markings
of age and use.
