Blue on Blue
March 14 – May 8 at Transit Gallery
Joo Lee Kang was born in South Korea and educated at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University.
Her drawings are made with ballpoint pen and depict intricate plants and animals. From afar, they are evocative of Victorian still life illustrations or French toile. Close up, however, the drawings reveal mutated creatures—a two-mouthed fish, three-footed birds and hairless mammals—forcing questions about nature’s place in the modern world.
These drawings will be on display in the Transit Gallery
