For their inaugural online-only exhibition, Gallery NAGA brings directly to your screen a selection of paintings by Joseph Barbieri.
Launching Friday, April 3, at 10 am, Beyond Isolation, presents a selection of new paintings done over the past two years in Barbieri’s Cambridge studio.
Barbieri has always painted colorful animal portraits, specifically birds, in various leisure pursuits. The birds in this show are particularly relevant to the current situation. The work shows them joining together in their activities – surfing, star-gazing, summering in Maine, bird-watching, and even snorkeling. They’ve moved beyond solitary activity and isolation and are rejoicing in their communal pursuits.
