What is nature? What is technology? In exquisitely rendered works on paper and playfully intricate installations of paper, artist Joo Lee Kang explores the evolution of the role of technology in our heavily manipulated world. She does not offer solutions or judgements, seemingly more drawn to those ambiguous moments where the line between nature and technology has all but disappeared.

Sponsored by the UCSF National Center of Excellence in Women’s Health, the 'Serenity' series invites Bay Area artists to present a body of work that interprets the idea of ‘serenity’ in order to inspire relaxation, well-being and calm.

This installment in the series features artists whose work is inspired by WATER as object, inspiration, and environment. This marks the first time all 5 floors of the venue have been curated based on a single metaphor for 'serenity'.

As 2012 begins, Gallery NAGA celebrates new and old, pairing the first gallery show of a young artist with newly uncovered works of a master.

Benjamin Evans: Coffee with Just Milk and Henry Schwartz: Unexhibited Paintings both run from January 6 through 28.  A public reception for the exhibitions will be held on Friday, January 6 from 6 to 8 pm.
